The Welsh language is one of the treasures of Wales. It is part of what defines us as people and as a nation. The Welsh Assembly Government's ambition is to see the number of people able to enjoy speaking and using Welsh reach a million by 2050.

The main aim of the Charter is to inspire and motivate our pupils to become proud Welsh people. As part of our aims we encourage the formal and informal use of Welsh, run activities that enthuse and inspire pupils e.g. opportunities to compose poems and songs through the medium of Welsh; studying our 'cynefin' and Welsh history and heritage; running live project work within our local area and involving the school community and wider community in our plans and running competitions and providing prizes for pupils' efforts. We take every opportunity to celebrate the Welsh language and Wales.

Currently, the Secondary Department is aiming for the Bronze Award, and the Primary Department is aiming for the Gold Award. We remember on all occasions that the Welsh language belongs to us all. For further information, please see the link to the Language charter website.
